PEAK - Legislation

The PartsWorld Emission Abatement Kit (PEAK) has been produced to comply with the Mayor of London's emission strategy for London taxis.

Phase 1

As of 1st July 2006 all taxis of a Pre-Euro or Euro1 standard will, when presented for their annual license inspection, be required to have either PCO/Energy Savings Trust (EST) approved emissions reduction equipment fitted or an approved conversion to run on an alternative fuel such that they meet Euro3 emission standards for NOx and PM10.

The vehicles required to have such systems fitted are as follows:

• LTI - any vehicle first registered prior to 16/09/98 (up to chassis No. 102767.)

Phase 2

As of 1st Jult 2007 all taxis that are of a Euro2 emissions standard will, when presented for their annual licensing inspection, be required to have either PCO/EST approved emissions reduction equipment fitted or an approved conversion to run on alternative fuels as a requirement of licensing.
